Desert Inflated Greenhouse by SKILLICORN Technologies
How Desert Inflated Greenhouses create synergies and adds value to technologically advanced, innovative Desert controlled environmental solutions
Lemnaceae, which grow flat on the water, require no elevation in greenhouses. Accordingly, they can be grown with immense efficiency in simple, 2-ply inflated greenhouses. Cooling and heating of media is managed with groundwater or seawater supplied through flexible plastic pipe manifolds that occupy most of the subsurface space within the greenhouses. CO2 levels are similarly managed by piping in captured exhaust from locally managed micro gas turbine arrays. Harvesting is automated using ball-valve-controlled standpipe overflow. There are no evaporative water losses. Most of the plant fluids collected during post-harvest processing are again returned to the media.
Deserts almost anywhere can, accordingly, be made to flower – producing more than 30 times as much or a higher grade plant protein than can be produced be the very best terrestrial farming systems in places like Iowa, Brazil, Argentina and Australia.
