Articulating Water Wheel: In-line aquatic kinetic energy capture by SKILLICORN Technologies
How Articulating Water Wheel: In-line aquatic kinetic energy capture creates synergies and adds value to technologically advanced, innovative renewable energy solutions
Hydropower now provides approximately 16% of global energy. Environmental concerns, combined with the very high cost of hydropower CAPEX, however, mitigate against significant future development. Hydropower attention has, accordingly, migrated to micro-hydro in mountainous regions such as Peru and Ecuador, but there too, loss of glacial ice and snow melt makes such investments – which also require significant steel and cement investments – problematic. STL is reinventing hydropower – focusing on rivers, canals and coastal tidal currents, and using a unique, proprietary floating, articulating paddlewheel device that requires no steel or concrete infrastructure. These units can, under most circumstances produce 100% renewable power for between $20 and $30 per MWH. They integrate well with other STL renewable power sources as providers of distributed baseload power that can also be used to produce hydrogen.
